NOTES

Current Local Catch Guide for Destin, Shalimar, and Fort Walton Beach

Destin Harbor - Okaloosa, FL

The summer bite is officially on fire across the Florida Panhandle. Stable high-pressure systems have settled over the coast, providing flat seas and clear water clarity. Whether you are heading out past the pass into the deep blue or sticking close to the grass flats, July is bringing incredible numbers of high-value fish to the docks.🌊 Offshore & Deep Sea Fishing ReportOur full-day and mid-range deep sea fishing charters are maximizing their time on the water by capitalizing on the peak of the federal reef seasons.Red Snapper: The bottom bite is spectacular. Large, aggressive schools of Red Snapper are holding over deep structure and natural reefs from 80 to 150 feet out. Dropping live cigar minnows or fresh herring has resulted in quick limits of high-quality table fare.Mahi Mahi & King Mackerel: Heavy summer weed lines are pushing in closer to the beach, dragging hungry Mahi Mahi right along with them. Pitching live baits around floating debris has provided fantastic bonus action. Simultaneously, we are finding plenty of heavy King Mackerel while slow-trolling live bait around structural drops.Grouper: Anglers dropping large live baits past the snapper schools are being rewarded with hard-fighting Gag and Scamp Grouper right off the bottom.🌾 Inshore & Choctawhatchee Bay Fishing ReportFor families and visitors looking for smooth, calm waters, our inshore fishing excursions out of Shalimar and Fort Walton Beach are producing steady action.Redfish: The shallow grass flats and dock pilings around Choctawhatchee Bay are loaded with fish. Early morning and late evening remain the absolute best times to target tailing Redfish in the shallows before the midday sun heats up the water.Speckled Trout & Mangrove Snapper: Clear water in the bay has made light-tackle fishing incredibly rewarding. Schools of Spotted Seatrout are active over the shallow bars, while nice-sized Mangrove Snapper are thick around bridge pilings and local rock piles, readily eating live shrimp.Crab Island Outings: Our specialized Crab Island fishing trips are also seeing great action, allowing families to combine light-tackle shallow water casting with the beautiful, iconic scenery of the Destin area.📅 Plan Your Next Trip With Captain RobertJuly dates are filling up exceptionally fast due to the short window for seasonal reef fish. If you are ready to secure a private or shared boat for your family, head over to our main directory to check pricing and open dates.
